Lighting Up in 2015: What Physicians Need to Know about Smoking

Cessation, E-cigarettes, and Marijuana

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Clinicians are expected to be experts in counseling their patients on the risks of smoking, on smoking cessation, and now on the dangers of marijuana use. Without an up-to-date knowledge of effective smoking cessation techniques and problematic new devices such as e-cigarettes, providers miss an opportunity to inform and assist their patients. In this program, experts will explain smoking cessation, the consequences of e-cigarettes, and the risks of using marijuana. After completing this program, attendees will be better prepared to discuss these subjects with their patients.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  1. Communicate which smoking cessation programs and techniques are most effective.
  2. Inform patients of the risks and controversies surrounding e-cigarettes.
  3. Discuss the health risks of marijuana use with patients.
